Hi everyone,

before everyone heads off for a bit of no doubt well-deserved summer holiday, I wanted to make sure you get The Things Conference, which will be taking place in September 23-24th in Amsterdam, into your calendar.

I’m very pleased to share that I will be speaking at the event.

My talk is titled Where? The gap between sensor data and human-centric geography in the AI age.

As the saying goes “Everything happens somewhere”, and sensors can tell us with micro-precision where. But is that helping or hurting the push for IoT adoption? Humans have a vast array of ways of thinking about location, varying by culture and “job to be done”. The “correct” answer to the customer’s question of “Where is my cargo?” requires context, that most IoT systems are lacking. Are we just flooding customers with data, or are we giving them meaningful information? This talk examines that challenge via specific examples.

"The Things Conference 2025"

We’re very fortunate to work with many customers from the IoT / asset tracking industry, small and large, around the world. The Things Conference is the perfect forum to share the story of how we work with these partners and make new connections, I am delighted to be taking part.

The entire schedule looks great, and if you have anything to do with IoT I encourage you to attend. Please get in touch if you would like to meet at the event.

See you in Amsterdam in September!
