a sad post to write today. Yesterday, 25 Feb 2026 at 21:00 UTC, our geocoding API and geosearch service both had about 10 minutes of downtime due to a complete outage of Hetzner our hosting provider. Our website was not impacted.
We have multiple, fully-redundant locations with Hetzner, and this should never happen. It seems the issue was human error, in an attempt to block a denial-of-service attack, Hetzner mistakenly blocked everything. Frustrating. Happily it was quickly noticed and corrected.

Our apologies to our customers. In 12+ years of relying on Hetzner we have neverhad a mass incident like this.
