Hi everyone,

we’ve been using the time the last few weeks to do a bit of spring cleaning in the old code base. Amongst other things we reviewed the various functionalities of our service, and looked at what is actually being used and what isn’t. What can we remove or simplify to reduce the ongoing maintenance burden?

As a result from the 15th of September, 2020 we will

  • remove support for the map output format of our geocoding results. This functionality is almost never being used, and removing it gives us one less thing to have to maintain.

  • we will drop support for API requests using HTTPS TLS 1.0 and 1.1 From that point all API requests will need to be made via HTTPS TLS 1.2 or higher. In practice this transition should not be noticed by the vast majority of our users, as most are already happily using TLS 1.2.

We will follow up individually with all paying customers who we see might be impacted by these changes and work with them to make the transition.

Please contact us should you have any questions.

Stay healthy, and happy geocoding,

Ed
