A small update today - last week we went live with a much better source for the timezone data we use in our timezone annotation.
The main differences versus or previous dataset is a significant improvement in granularity (particularly around coastlines) and we now also return timezone info for locations in the middle of oceans.
A big thank you goes out to one of our customers who made us aware of this chance for improvement. If you have any suggestions for improving our service, please let us know.

If you don’t need annotations and want a slightly faster response you can
turn annotations off by using the optional no_annotations
parameter.
