Hola amigos,

If you’re in Barcelona please come along to the BCN Data Engineering meetup on the evening of Thursday the 30th of November. I’ll be talking a bit about the technical challenges we face in running our service, and as part of that I’ll give a general introduction to OpenStreetMap. I’ll also explore the more general concept of how to think about when a developer or dev team should build things themselves and when they should consider relying on a third-party service like OpenCage.

The event will be held at IronHack BCN in Poblenou, a coding school that I have heard good things about. It will be interesting to see what sorts of questions the next generation of developers have. Nevertheless I’ll do my best to make sure the talk is relevant to grizzled digital veterans as well.

After the talk we’ll have some beers, it should be a good time. Many thanks to the organizers and IronHack for providing the venue.

Hope to see you there,

Ed
